KIND by PEEPING TOM is coming

KIND (CHILD) (2019) is coming to ONE DANCE WEEK 2019. On September 20th, 2019 we we will peek into the children’s internal and external world. The Belgian company PEEPING TOM satiates the stage with remarkable dance aesthetics and transforms it into a magical fairy forest where children’s spirits roam in a dream and in reality for us to see.

Limited amount of tickets is available online at Epaygo.bg and at EasyPay cash desks at special discount price of BGN 20 and 30, valid until January 1st, 2019.

In KIND, every action is driven by how children see the world, by their fears and desires. The choreographers investigate how a child’s perspective changes as it grows and develops itself on its way to adolescence and adulthood, with all the associated choices, pressures, fears, doubts and physical changes, and how this translates into gestures and body language.

Gabriela Carrizo and Franck Chartier look at how children express fears due to a lack of (parental) framework to hold on to. What happens in traumatic situations, in which the perceptions of the body are seemingly anaesthetized? How do children handle their quest for truth? And how do they organize their world through fantasy, role playing or imitations, to master certain situations or dynamics?

The production is the third part of Peeping Tom’s family trilogy that started in 2014 with Vader – directed by Franck Chartier – followed by Moeder (Mother) (2016) by Gabriela Carrizo, and is dedicated to the complex and polar universe of family relationships.

ONE DANCE WEEK is organized by ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts and is a part of the program of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria.

CAUTION! People under 18 will not be allowed to the performance.
