The Bulgarian track

The Bulgarian track in the jubilee edition of ONE DANCE WEEK is Ivo Dimchev’s  newest show SCULPTURES, which will be performed in Plovdiv on September 30 at 19:30. Just a few weeks ago, the spectacle debuted at the Volkstheater in Vienna and provoked a wide response in the artistic circles and the audience.

The name of the musical group performance, which will be presented for the first time in Bulgaria and namely in Plovdiv, is also the name of the new album of the choreographer, artist, vocalist, songwriter, performer and provocateur Ivo Dimchev. The songs from the album are the backbone of this unique 70-minute spectacle, standing on the border between a pop concert and a contemporary dance performance. In SCULPTURES together with Ivo other performers are Jordan Deschamps, Helena Araujo, Jaskaran Singh Anand, Pauline Stöhr. The live piano accompaniment is by Dimitar Gorchakov.

I’m bored of singing behind a microphone, though I like it, I love the restriction of it… I like the oppression of it, but it’s time to revisit the Madonna format. She failed in it… I saw it… at Madison Square Garden… she overloaded it. We’ll do less, more quiet, more kind to the eyes… more loving. – Ivo Dimchev

His beautiful singing resembles a voice from an old plate: a distant trap. – Financial Times

Animalistic in a moment, delicate in the next, he intertwines darkness and light with verbal and physical dexterity. – The New York

The next dates from the SCULPTURES presentation include October 7 – Bucharest, October 16 – London, November 3 – Barcelona, December 8 – Riga, and January 8 – New York. So far Ivo Dimchev has participated in various editions of ONE DANCE WEEK with PARIS (2012) and P PROJECT (2013), in which his unique performance and financial interaction with the audience seriously aroused the spirits in the cultural and media space. During the last years Dimchev has published two books: STAGE WORKS 2012-2016 and LYRICS AND PEDERATUSES.

The Jubilee edition of ONE DANCE WEEK began with a full hall and stormy applause for the innovative spectacle from Taiwan DUET FOR HUMAN AND ROBOT. Huang Yu and the German industrial robot KUKA – one of the most advanced, precise and recognizable achievements of robotics, left no spectator indifferent and provoked reflections on the place of man in modern technology society and the place of technology in human life.

The program of ONE DANCE WEEK this week will present the Evening of the Young Choreographers from Japan and Korea with three consecutive performances on October 1 at 19:30. MATOU, TRY and BETWEEN will be presented in Plovdiv with the support of the Seoul International Choreography Festival.
